Taiping Monkey King 太平猴魁
Taiping Houkui comes from the misty high mountain tea gardens of Houkeng in Anhui Province, China. It is crafted from traditional seed-grown tea bushes rather than modern cloned cultivars, resulting in greater genetic diversity and a more complex expression of terroir. The tea gardens are managed with a natural, low-intervention approach, without the use of pesticides, allowing the tea plants to thrive in their native mountain environment.
The region’s cool climate and year-round mountain fog help create Taiping Houkui’s signature appearance—two large leaves embracing a bud—along with its elegant orchid aroma, smooth sweetness, and lingering finish. Widely regarded as one of China’s most iconic green teas, it offers a unique combination of freshness, depth, and mountain character.
